Sven Jan Correia CEO
& founder myTofu
2021 -
The Start
myTofu was founded in 2021 by Sven Jan Correia, a Luxembourgish student at Tilburg University. Sven started using tofu as a plant-based protein alternative when he reduced his meat consumption in 2020, but quickly found out that cooking with tofu was difficult and time-consuming. Inspired by the idea that vegetables and spices make a meal better, Sven came up with the idea to infuse tofu with natural ingredients to enhance its flavor naturally and make it easier to cook with.
Late 2021 -
Experimentation
In October 2021, Sven started to produce tofu for the very first with a tutorial on YouTube. After initial learning, in November 2021, Sven produced the first vegetables infused tofu which was the initial indication that myTofu actually could work.
Over the following months, end 2021 and beginning 2022, Sven produced more and more tofu in order to find the best production process .

2022 -
Validation Phase
In April 2022, the validation phase started and Sven started to produce tofu for friends. He started giving away some of his tofu to get some initial feedback which turned out to be very positive.
Then, in May 2022, Sven participated at the Dragon’s Den Pitch Event of the Academic Business Club (ABC). Several student entrepreneurs were invited to present their start-ups in front of a jury. In the end, myTofu was voted the best pitch and won the first place. Furthermore, Sven brought some Curry myTofu for the jury and audience to taste and the feedback was very positive which validated again that myTofu as potential to work.
